There Has Been a Rise in Unaccompanied Minors Arriving at the United States Border

Since taking office, President Biden has acted on, and expressed motivations to loosen hardline immigration policies. A grave challenge has recently risen for the Biden administration however, as the number of unaccompanied minors arriving at the border has steeply risen. From October to December, there was a 120 percent jump in the number of unaccompanied minors directed to the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement. With COVID-19 social distancing restrictions in place, less available bed space exists for these minors. As more immigrants arrive, it has become a challenge to find a place for them to temporarily stay.
